Transaction in own shares

Thomas Cook Group plc announces that on 23 September 2008 it purchased 700,000 ordinary shares for cancellation. The highest price paid per share was 245 pence (excluding expenses) and the lowest price paid was 231 pence (excluding expenses).

As a result of these purchases Thomas Cook Group plc will purchase 783,554 ordinary shares in aggregate from Arcandor AG and KarstadtQuelle Freizeit GmbH at a price of 235.6315 pence per share, which is the average price paid for the shares reported above.
