26 November 2007 Daily Mail and General Trust plc (`DMGT') Cancellation of Treasury Shares
DMGT announces that on 26 November 2007, 2,727,146 'A' Ordinary Non Voting shares in the Company held in treasury were cancelled. These shares comprise 2,727,000 shares bought back by the Company since the last cancellation of shares in May 2007 and 7,146 shares equal to the number of new shares issued since then as a consequence of option exercises.
Following the cancellation, the total number of 'A' Ordinary Non Voting Shares held in treasury is 5,176,760 and the total number of 'A' Ordinary Non Voting Shares in issue after deducting shares held in treasury is 370,247,034.
The shares remaining in treasury are held to match future option exercises and to satisfy any share awards under various Group incentive schemes. The Company's objective remains to eliminate dilution by keeping constant the aggregate of shares in issue and options over shares.
