All ofthese shares will be held as treasury shares. Following the above purchase, Mitchells & Butlers plc holds 379,779 ordinaryshares as treasury shares. The total number of Mitchells & Butlers shares inissue is 403,399,914 (excluding shares to be held in treasury). It is intended that the shares held as treasury shares will be used to meetobligations of Mitchells & Butlers under employee share option schemes.
