Purchase of Own Securities

Man Group plc announces that on 6 October 2008 it purchased for cancellation 500,000 of its ordinary shares at an average price of 291.10 pence per ordinary share.

Since the start of the financial year on 1 April 2008, Man has repurchased 28,546,992 ordinary shares at a total cost of £143.10 million, giving an average repurchase cost of 501.29 pence per ordinary share.
