Transaction in own shares

Yesterday the Company purchased 420,000 of its own ordinary shares of no par value at prices between 235.10 pence per share and 244.90 pence per share, all of which ordinary shares are to be cancelled. This represents approximately 0.030 per cent of the Company's issued ordinary share capital.

Following the repurchase and cancellation, 1,416,285,306 ordinary shares of no par value will be in issue. There are no ordinary shares held in treasury.
