Go-Ahead Group PLC16 December 2005 The Go-Ahead Group plc ("Go-Ahead" or the "Company") Transaction in Own Shares Go-Ahead announces that on 15 December 2005 it purchased 135,000 of its 10pordinary shares at 1595 pence per share through Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein.All of these shares will be held as Treasury shares. This purchase equates toapproximately 0.27 per cent of the Company's total issued share capital. Following the purchase of these shares, Go-Ahead holds 2,252,500 of its sharesin Treasury and has 49,478,983 ordinary shares in issue (excluding treasuryshares). The purchase was made by the Company pursuant to the authorisation granted atits Annual General Meeting on 27 October 2005 under Section 163 Companies Act1985.
