Next PLC14 July 2005 Next plc Off-market purchases by way of contingent purchase contract by the Company ofordinary shares for cancellation Next plc announces today that, pursuant to the provisions of the contingentforward purchase contract it entered into with Deutsche Bank AG London on 9 June2005, the suspension level has been exceeded and the contract terminated. Underthis contract, the Company purchased a total of 200,000 ordinary shares forcancellation at a price of 1424.82p per share. Editorial note: Under the contingent contract, the Company may purchase a fixed number of shareseach week, in the period to 15 December 2005, at a fixed price that is at adiscount to the market price prevailing at the start of the contract period. Thecontract is contingent in that it would terminate early, and no further shareswould be purchased, if the Company's share price increases to a pre-determinedsuspension level during the contract period. This suspension level has been setat the start of the contract and is between 104% and 110% of the Company's shareprice at the start of the contract.
