Ashtead Group PLC21 December 2007 Ashtead Group PLC (the "Company") announces that on 21 December 2007 itpurchased through ABN AMRO Hoare Govett 700,000 ordinary shares at an averageprice of 81.04 pence per share.The Company intends to hold these shares in Treasury. Following the purchase of these shares, the Company holds 3,362,000 of itsshares in Treasury and has 558,161,405 shares in issue (excluding Treasuryshares). This number (558,161,405) represents the total voting rights in the Company andmay be used by shareholders as the denominator for the calculations by whichthey will determine if they are required to notify their interest in, or achange to their interest in, Ashtead Group PLC under the FSA's Disclosure andTransparency Rules.
