TRANSACTION IN OWN SHARES

Kazakhmys PLC announces that on 8 December 2011 it purchased from Citigroup Global Markets U.K. Equity Limited 108,000 ordinary shares at an average price of 950.8658 pence per share. The highest price paid was 976.5 pence per share and the lowest price paid was 919.5 pence per share. The purchased shares will be held as treasury shares. Following the above purchase, Kazakhmys PLC holds 4,402,168 ordinary shares in treasury and has 531,015,793 ordinary shares in issue (excluding treasury shares).
