Transaction in own shares

Today the Company purchased 13,336,504 of its own ordinary shares of no par value at prices between 280.5 pence per share and 286.5 pence per share, all of which ordinary shares are to be cancelled. This represents approximately 0.971 per cent of the Company's issued ordinary share capital.

Following the repurchase and cancellation, 1,373,213,168 ordinary shares of no par value will be in issue. There are no ordinary shares held in treasury.
