BRIT Insurance Holdings PLC28 June 2007 28 June 2007 Brit Insurance Holdings PLCTransaction in own shares Brit Insurance Holdings PLC ("the Company"), the UK-domiciled internationalgeneral insurer and reinsurer, announces that in accordance with paragraph12.4.6R of the Listing Rules and paragraph 5.5.1R of the Disclosure andTransparency Rules it has today purchased 133,000 Ordinary Shares of 75p each atan average price of 342.21 pence per share. The highest price and lowest price paid for these shares were 343.00 pence and341.00 pence respectively. All the purchased shares will all be held as Treasuryshares. Following the above purchase, the Company holds 11,503,000 Ordinary Shares inTreasury. The number of Ordinary Shares purchased represents 3.49% of the votingrights attributable to the total Ordinary Shares in issue prior to suchpurchases. The Company has 318,261,397 Ordinary Shares in issue (excluding Treasuryshares). The above figure may be used by shareholders as the denominator for thecalculations by which they will determine if they are required to notify theirinterest in, or a change to their interest in, the Company under the Disclosureand Transparency Rules.
