Rio Tinto PLC01 February 2007 Rio Tinto plc today acquired through Credit Suisse Securities (Europe) Ltd275,000 of its ordinary shares at an average price of 2,725.36 pence perordinary share. The purchased shares will all be held as treasury shares. Following the above purchase, Rio Tinto plc holds 53,266,983 ordinary shares astreasury shares.
