Legal & General Group Plc announces that on 1 August 2008 it purchased for cancellation 1,800,000  Ordinary shares of 2.5p each through UBS. The highest price paid was 98.50p per share and the lowest price paid was 95.40p per share. The purchase was made in accordance with the irrevocable instruction given to UBS prior to, and announced by Legal & General Group Plc, on 30 June 2008.
