TRANSACTION IN OWN SHARES

Kazakhmys PLC announces that on 17 November 2011 it purchased from J.P. Morgan Securities Ltd. 100,000 ordinary shares at an average price of 889.5836 pence per share. The highest price paid was 916.0 pence per share and the lowest price paid was 870.5 pence per share. The purchased shares will be held as treasury shares. Following the above purchase, Kazakhmys PLC holds 3,057,168 ordinary shares in treasury and has 532,183,170 ordinary shares in issue (excluding treasury shares).
