M&G High Income Investment Trust P.L.C.

M&G High Income Investment Trust P.L.C. (M&G HIT) announces that on 17 December 2008 it purchased and cancelled 425,000 M&G HIT Package Units at a price of 96p per Package Unit. This represents 0.31% of M&G HIT's issued share capital.

To date, a total of 1,625,000 Package Units have been purchased and cancelled by M&G HIT resulting in a current issued share capital of 135,802,539 Zero Dividend Preference Shares, 135,802,539 Income Shares, and 135,802,539 Capital Shares.
