Transaction in Own Shares

Whitbread PLC has today received confirmation that the transfer of 500,000 Ordinary shares of 76 122/153p each to RBC CEES Trustee Limited, the Trustee of the Whitbread Employee Share Ownership Plan Trust, was completed on 2 September 2010. The shares will be used to satisfy awards under the Whitbread Long Term Incentive Plan.

The transferred shares were all formerly held as Treasury Shares.

Following the above transfer, Whitbread PLC holds 14,251,806 Ordinary shares in treasury, and has 176,659,079 Ordinary shares in issue (excluding treasury shares).
