26th Oct 2010 09:03

RNS Number : 9979U
RAM Investment Group PLC
26 October 2010

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 26 October 2010

RAM INVESTMENT GROUP'S OPERATING SUBSIDIARY, TRAINFX LIMITED, ACHIEVES KEY MILESTONE SUCCESS

("TrainFX" or the "Company")

THE FIRST TRAIN IS NOW IN SERVICE WITH THE ADVANCED PASSENGER INFORMATION SYSTEM OF TRAINFX. ANOTHER 56 TO BE INSTALLED BY YEAR END.

The first Class 165 Unit has been fitted with the new TrainFX Advanced Passenger Information System and is now fully operational and running in passenger service.

The Client is First Great Western whose passengers will now enjoy a significant improvement in on-board information due to the removal of the previous obsolete system and the replacement with the TrainFX "state of the art" on-board information system.

This system has been constructed in accordance with the new European standards. It provides real time information both to and from the train, enabling First Great Western the ability to communicate with passengers in real time, ensuring they are fully aware of any journey disruptions on route and on connecting routes.

The train is the first of 57 (Class 165 and 166 Turbo trains) that are to have the new passenger information system fitted. The remaining 56 trains are planned to be fitted and in service by December 2010, operating on the London and Thames Valley routes.

TrainFX Managing Director Phil Campbell said: "I am delighted to see this first unit go into service and look forward to the remaining units being completed by the end of 2010."

"This is an excellent 'high profile' reference that allows our client, their passengers and the rail sector in general, to see the benefits of our system in service operation".

Executive Chairman of RAM Investment Group plc Tim Baldwin comments:

"This is a milestone event for TrainFX. Since acquisition the Company has moved from a research and development business to a company delivering and installing new products on trains. We are excited about the potential for this business, in the markets it is addressing. The validation of its product in a real environment should help secure a substantial pipeline of further contracts."
