Trafficlink was appointed as UBC's sole supplier of traffic and travel data andbroadcast services to its network of 151 UK commercial radio stations in 2004. Since then, UBC has built the successful Network Drive advertising packagearound the Trafficlink bulletins with revenues up 48.5% in its last publishedfigures. The original contract, which was due to end in December 2007, has nowbeen extended to December 2010. UBC pioneered "Barter syndication" as a means of delivering high quality contentto commercial radio, and is now the largest independent network airtime salespoint to media agencies. Bringing together UBC's extensive experience andunrivalled contacts in this area and Trafficlink's long experience and expertisein aggregating and distributing highly comprehensive traffic and travelinformation has proved to be a hugely successful combination. UBC's syndicated programme strands are provided to commercial radio groups inexchange for airtime, creating a one-stop national advertising opportunitywithin the Trafficlink Radio bulletins. UBC currently supplies syndicatedservices including Entertainment News, Network Drive, and as announced yesterdaySky News Radio to over 250 commercial radio stations within the UK. Operating from seven regional offices across the UK, Trafficlink aggregatescongestion and incident information through a wide variety of informationsources including Police Control Rooms, 4,000 CCTV cameras, local authorities,on road speed monitors motorists and public transport operators. These extensivesources, monitored by the country's largest team of traffic and travel analysts,provides cause and effect of incidents and their likely duration. Trafficlink's information reaches in excess of 40 million people each weekacross a number of different platforms.
