Polaron PLC18 July 2005 July 18th 2005 Polaron plc Trading update Positive response at trade show Polaron plc ("Polaron" or the "Company"), the broad-based technology company, ispleased to announce that the results for the year ended 30 June 2005 will be inline with current market expectations. Polaron intends to release itspreliminary results for the year ended 30 June 2005 on 22nd September 2005. Following the launch last month of a laser version of its 3 Dimensional AtomProbe (3DAP) targeted specifically at the semiconductor manufacturing market,Polaron exhibited the new probe at the Semicon West trade show in San Franciscolast week. The initial response from semiconductor companies has been extremelyencouraging, with a number of potential customers requesting material samples tobe analysed in order to confirm the laser 3DAP's unique analytical capabilities.Use of the laser 3DAP will allow chipmakers to determine atomic chemicalidentity and spatial arrangement in critical locations (such as gate oxidestructures) of transistors in next generation chips. The Company believes thatsuch information has hitherto been unavailable. The Company continues to develop a strong sales pipeline for both versions ofthe 3DAP, although the timing of the conversion of the pipeline into firm ordersremains difficult to predict. -ends- For further information, please contact: Polaron plc Tel: 01923 495513Joe Stelzer Financial Dynamics Tel: 020 7831 3113Juliet Clarke About the 3DAP The 3D Atom Probe works by evaporating individual atoms from a semiconductor or conductive sample, measuring their atomic mass and then calculating their position in the sample's 3 dimensional structure. A detailed three dimensional atomic model of the sample can then be visualised using software reconstruction. In addition to providing visualisation of atomic structure in a way not previously attainable, the laser 3DAP enables results to be obtained withsignificantly enhanced mass resolution and a much faster data acquisition rate. Sample analyses of millions of atoms canbe run in 10 minutes and the industry leading mass resolution means that very small quantities of atoms with similar atomic mass can be separated out by the instrument, which is crucial when looking at small dopant concentrations.
