NCSP Group's total cargo turnover increased by 6.9% in January 2012
NCSP Group (LSE: NCSP, MICEX: NMTP) reports consolidated operating results for January 2012.
NCSP Group's total cargo turnover in the reporting period amounted to 13.8 million tons which represents an increase of 0.9 million tons or 6.9% versus January 2011.
In January 2012 liquid cargo volumes increased by 0.6 million tons or 5.5% versus the same period of last year.
Crude oil transshipment by NCSP Group in January 2012 totaled 9.9 million tons, which represents an increase of 5.2% compared to January 2011 volumes. This growth is attributed to the increase in volumes of Primorsk Trade Port Ltd by 0.9 million tons or by 16.4%.
Volumes of oil products transshipment across the Group increased by 6.4% or by 0.1 million tons. The total volume of oil products handled during the reporting period amounted to 1.7 million tons, of which 0.6 million tons attributed to diesel transshipment by Primorsk Trade Port Ltd.
In January 2011 the Group handled 0.57 million tons of grain.
Growth in general cargo turnover in January 2012 totaled 0.15 million tons or 22%. The growth was attributed to an increase of turnover in ferrous metals by 0.2 million tons (40%) and perishable goods by 29% (1.7 thousand tons) which offset the decline in timber handling (-27.4 thousand tons), non-ferrous metals (-22 thousand tons) and other cargoes (-6 thousand tones).
In January 2012 Group's container traffic in TEU terms decreased by 13.7% versus January 2011 and totaled 41.7 thousand TEU.
Deputy CEO for marketing and sales of PJSC NCSP Rado Antolovic commented:
"January results were significantly influenced by weather conditions in Novorossiysk. There were eight storm warnings with total duration of more than 12 days during the month. The last time that similar weather conditions were observed was in December 1997.
However, despite the unfavorable weather conditions, NCSP Group management team was able to achieve growth in cargo turnover of 6.9% versus the same period of last year".
