Appian Technology PLC13 April 2006 Appian Technology plc / Ticker: ATT / Market: AIM / Sector: Technology 13 April 2006 Appian Technology plc ('Appian' or 'the Company') Trading Update Appian Technology plc, the AIM-traded provider of Automatic Number PlateRecognition systems ('ANPR') and traffic management products and solutions, ispleased to announce a trading update for the half year to 31st March 2006. TheCompany expects to announce its half year results on 19th June 2006. Move to AIM and share placing During the half year to 31st March 2006 Appian raised £2.54 million beforeexpenses through a placing of 50,780,000 new ordinary shares and its shares wereadmitted to trading on AIM on 4th January 2006. Trading Appian has seen significant progress in all aspects of its business. Orderintake is substantially ahead of last year and the Company has a healthypipeline going forward. For the half year to 31st March 2006 Appian will reporta significant increase in sales and improved results compared with the previousyear. Appian's markets continue to develop in the UK and internationally. The Companyis reviewing its business plan for the forthcoming six months which could resultin additional investment in sales and marketing to acquire new customers in theexpanding international market for ANPR solutions. Product development is continuing in line with market requirements andmanagement has been strengthened in the Company's operations department, whichcovers delivery, R&D and maintenance. During the period, Appian has won important new customers and projects both inthe UK and internationally. A recent significant new contract was an £80,000order to equip the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and Vancouver Police Departmentwith its Talon ANPR ('Talon') technology. The Company anticipates further ordersfrom Canadian law enforcement agencies over the next two years. Additionally as previously announced, the Company has won two other major ordersfor its Talon system.
