Greene King PLC31 January 2005 31 January 2005 GREENE KING PLC 36 WEEK TRADING STATEMENT Greene King is pleased to report that performance in the 36 weeks to 9 January2005 has been in line with expectations and that all three trading divisionshave done well through Christmas and the New Year. Total like for like sales in Pub Company were +2.2% after 36 weeks and thetrading profit margin was robust at 18.3%. Like for like turnover in PubPartners was +1.2%. Total beer sales by volume were +2% after 36 weeks. The sales of Greene KingIPA were +5%, Abbot Ale +5% and Old Speckled Hen +6%. All four external tradechannels increased their sales over last year and the trading margin in BrewingCompany was strong at 16.5%. The integration of the Laurel business has been proceeding smoothly and is fourweeks ahead of schedule. All the cut-overs of the IT systems have beencompleted and the full re-structuring of the operational management will go liveon 7 February. This has been achieved by the keenness of both teams tointegrate as quickly as possible. The transfer of 103 pubs from Pub Companyand 57 from Laurel into Pub Partners is also progressing to plan.
