Standard Chartered PLC09 January 2007 Standard Chartered PLC Voting Rights and Capital The following notification is made in accordance with transitional provision 6to the Disclosure and Transparency Rules implementing the EU TransparencyDirective. At close of business on 8 January 2007 the issued share capital of StandardChartered PLC was as follows: 1,384,727,701 ordinary shares of US$0.50 each with voting rights of one vote forevery US$2 nominal value; 99,250,000 81/4 per cent non-cumulative irredeemable preference shares of £1each with no equity voting rights; 96,035,000 73/8 per cent non-cumulative irredeemable preference shares of £1each with no equity voting rights; and 7,500 American Depository Shares representing 7,500 non-cumulative redeemablepreference shares of US$5 each with no equity voting rights. The above figure (1,384,727,701 ordinary shares of US$0.50 each) may be used byshareholders to determine the percentage of issued share capital they hold inStandard Chartered PLC and if they are required to notify their interests in, ora change to their interest in, Standard Chartered PLC under the FSA's Disclosureand Transparency Rules.
