March 1, 2013 - Shire plc (LSE: SHP, NASDAQ: SHPG) (the "Company"), inaccordance with DTR 5.6.1 of the FSA's Disclosure and Transparency Rules,notifies the market of the following:

At close of business on February 28, 2013, the Company's issued ordinary sharecapital comprised 557,275,797 ordinary shares of 5 pence each with votingrights and a further 5,296,070 ordinary shares held in treasury.

Therefore the total number of voting rights in the Company is 557,275,797. Thisis the figure which should be used by shareholders as the denominator for thecalculations by which they will determine if they are required to notify theirinterest in, or a change to their interest in, the Company under the FinancialServices Authority's Disclosure and Transparency Rules.
