JSC Halyk Bank awarded "Bank of the Year in Kazakhstan" by The Banker 

Halyk Bank was presented «Bank of the Year in Kazakhstan» award at the 12th «Bank of the Year» awards ceremony in London arranged by The Banker, the reputed international financial magazine.

'We have defined balanced growth sustainable throughout the economic cycle as our strategic goal already for a long time,' said Umut Shayakhmetova, CEO of Halyk Bank. 'The current turmoil in the global financial markets is yet another examination for the world financial system. Despite that, Halyk Bank has achieved positive growth rates and remains the most preferable and reliable banking partner in Kazakhstan. We have significant cushion in form of shareholder equity and are able to sustain it thanks to generation of strong earnings from banking operations.'

In the second half of 2011, Halyk Bank improved its net interest margin due to continuing optimization of asset and liability structure. For the nine months of 2011, Halyk Bank's share in sector's net income reached 37%. Halyk Bank is the only bank in Kazakhstan to prepay the capital provided by the Government in 2009.

Halyk Bank is continuously working on improvements in the quality of service and has increased its market share across range of products. In recent years, Halyk Bank has significantly expanded the volume of its transactional banking business, especially in retail segment. Most of the growth was technology-intensive, including advancements in mobile and internet banking solutions, payment cards.

Halyk will aim to actively grow its loan portfolio in 2012, continue expanding fee and commission business, and preserve the leading position in the market. Technology solutions, further improvement in quality of service and optimization of business processes will stay of highest priority for the Bank.
