Ten Alps PLC

Ten Alps launches Public TV and Business TV and accelerates online migration

Ten Alps Plc (AIM:TAL), the factual media company, today announces further expansion of its B2B online video portfolio.

Public TV and Business TV are launched today - both online video aggregators with commercial opportunities.

Five new industry-specific portals launch within the next few months, including Transport and InfrastructureEnergy and EnvironmentPublic SectorTrade (domestic, international and small business) and Education and Innovationeach drawing on a wide range of existing trade titles, both online and print.

Ten Alps has thereby dramatically increased the scale and speed of migration of its print portfolio, through an increase in fully expensed spend this year to £500k.

Public TV and Business TV go online

Ten Alps today launched online video aggregation tools Public TV* and Business TV, with access to an initial 174 channels and thousands of videos in the public sector and business.

The sites are at www.public.tv and www.business-tv.co.uk.

They initially offer access to 174 channels, including all those Ten Alps is involved with such as Teachers TV, Kent TV, Vets TV, Optometry TV and GPTV. Videos are linked from across the commercial and public sectors, including government departments, local government, charities and large companies. Further channels are being added over the next few months.

Sharing a database, each site enables users to access content for free, but aims to generate revenue by giving paying customers to the tools to either create their own 'white label' video channels, or engage Ten Alps to create and disseminate online video commercials.

The sites also database 145 e-books and online publications produced by Ten Alps, and this database will also shortly be extended to third parties.

Online migration dramatically stepped up with industry-specific portals

The pace of online migration of Ten Alps' 700-title print portfolio has been dramatically increased - and at a pace faster than announced in December 2008.

Products being launched online in the next two months are set to include new portals in Transport and InfrastructureEnergy and EnvironmentPublic SectorTrade (domestic, international and small business) and Education and Innovation.

Spend this year on online development has been approximately £500k and will be fully expensed in the trading figures.

Alex Connock, Ten Alps CEO, said:

"Tough economy or not, the challenge remains to tool up for a rapidly-arriving new era when online video can be as powerful a business tool as print or websites. We aim to build a sizeable asset in B2B online video and we're cracking on."

Notes

Ten Alps initially launched Public TV three years ago, but withdrew it for lack of sufficient commercially-viable content production opportunities at the time.  But with the expansion of broadband, the success of the BBC iPlayer and a large increase in the volume of government and commercial video, Ten Alps has now re-engineered the site from scratch using in-house software during the past year, and believes the model offers real economic opportunities.

Commercial opportunities and white label channel opportunities are being sold by Ten Alps subsidiary Sovereign, based in London. Production and advertising solutions are being produced from Newcastle by Ten Alps subsidiary Twenty First Century Media, which is also working on commercial online video advertising sales.
