Aricom PLC05 April 2006 ARICOM APPOINTS TECHNICAL DIRECTOR 5 April 2006 Aricom plc ("Aricom" or "the Company"), the AIM traded mining firm withinterests in the Far East of Russia, today announces the appointment of MartinSmith as Technical Director, with responsibility for all technical aspects ofthe Company's operations and mining developments. Martin is scheduled to jointhe Company on 1 June 2006. Martin, aged 51, joins Aricom following more than 25 years operational andcorporate management experience across the global mining industry. Having begunhis career in 1976 as a graduate Mining Engineer at Anglo American Corporation,South Africa, he has led important projects mining coal, base and preciousmetals for some of the leading mining and exploration companies, including KierInternational, Costain Mining and Shell International. During his time with KierInternational, Martin worked as a project consultant on Peter Hambro Miningplc's Pokrovskiy mine in Russia's Far East. Sir Malcolm Field, Chairman said: "We are delighted to appoint Martin to the company and the Board of Aricom. Hisskills and experience augment the Board at a time when we are accelerating thedevelopment of our mining operations in Russia's Far East. His considerableknowledge and operational understanding, both in terms of the world-wide miningindustry and the Far East region of Russia in particular, mean that hiscontribution to the business will be particularly important as our operationsgain momentum."
