Submission of Environmental Project Brief to ZEMA for the approval of sale of Waelz Kiln Slag ("WKS") as a construction aggregate
BMR, the Zambian-focused mineral processing business, is pleased to announce that on 13 May 2016, its Consultant filed with the Zambia Environmental Management Agency (ZEMA) the definitive Environmental Project Brief (EPB) in connection with the proposed sale of WKS, from its Kabwe site, as a construction aggregate, together with the appropriate filing fee.
Final approval by ZEMA for this EPB will allow BMR to realise significant value from a resource that had previously been written down by 90% as well as contributing to the long term objective of the Company to make a positive contribution to cleaning up the environment in Kabwe. The EPB has been submitted in the name of BMR's principal operating Zambian subsidiary, Enviro Processing Limited.
It should also be noted that EPL owns the surface rights of the ground on which the WKS is located, and once cleared, will be available for development, subject to the normal planning applications, or sale.
Alex Borrelli, Chairman, commented:
"We are pleased to report this further milestone in the development of BMR under the new management team with the submission of the Waelz Kiln EPB. The sale of WKS as a construction aggregate will add a potentially valuable revenue stream for BMR. We look forward to reporting further progress on this initiative as soon as appropriate."
