Arena Leisure PLC02 October 2006 2 October 2006 ARENA LEISURE PLC Statement with regard to the Tote Arena Leisure Plc ("Arena"), the UK's largest operator of horseracing fixtures, confirms that the Department For Culture, Media and Sport has rejected the offer to acquire the Tote contained within the expression of interest submitted by a racing industry consortium of which Arena formed a part. Mark Elliott, Arena's Chief Executive, said today: "We thought that the offer was a realistic one and so we are disappointed that it was rejected. However, Arena has always been very clear in its attitude to acquisitions, stating that, at this stage in our development, they are likely to be opportunistic in their nature.
