STATEMENT REGARDING PRESS COMMENT

Shaftesbury PLC ("the Company"), the specialist West End Real Estate Investment Trust, has noted the press comment regarding the appointment of Drivers Jonas Deloitte to manage the central London property portfolio owned by the Mercers' Company.

The Company wishes to state that the Longmartin Joint Venture with the Mercers' Company, which includes St Martin's Courtyard in Covent Garden, does not form any part of the Drivers Jonas Deloitte appointment.

The Company continues its executive role in the Longmartin Joint Venture. NB Real Estate continues as the Joint Venture's appointed managing agents.
