Further management appointments

NBNK Investments plc (AIM: NBNK) announces that it has made three new senior management appointments as part of its strategy to build, through acquisition, a banking business with a significant share of the UK retail banking market.

The Company has appointed, Simon Markey as Programme Director, Paulette Rowe as Strategy Director and Tom Wood as Finance Programme Director.

The appointments strengthen NBNK's expertise and experience, enabling it to fulfil its strategy and meet the challenge of establishing a significant new presence in UK retail banking.

Simon Markey joins NBNK following a 26 year career in financial services, 21 of which were at Lloyds Banking Group. At Lloyds Simon led the development of its online and telephone banking services and headed Premier Banking. He had responsibility for the planning and delivery of all retail banking sales operations, focusing on the delivery of high quality customer service and relationship management.

Paulette was formerly a member of the Tesco Personal Finance executive management team with responsibility for commercial and marketing operations across all its banking and insurance products . She joined Tesco from the RBS Group where over seven years her roles included Managing Director of NatWest Retail Banking covering the bank's branches and Premium and Business Banking. She was previously at General Electric for eight years working internationally in its financial services division.

Tom Wood brings 11 years of finance experience to the Company, most recently as Chief Financial Officer of Skipton Group, the UK's fourth largest building society. At Northern Rock he was instrumental in restructuring its balance sheet to ensure State Aid approval from the EU. Whilst at Derbyshire Building Society he stabilised the business and oversaw the merger process with Nationwide Building Society. His career in financial services began at Barclays Bank.

Commenting on the appointments NBNK's Chairman, Lord Levene, said: "I am delighted to be able to announce the appointments of Simon, Paulette and Tom which marks another positive step in our progress towards building a major new customer-orientated retail banking business."

NBNK has been established to take advantage of the opportunity which exists in the UK banking and savings market to build (primarily through acquisition) a new and substantial UK bank focused on the retail and corporate SME markets. The Company has been founded by Lord Levene and a group of senior business figures, supported by a number of institutional shareholders. NBNK will focus on the UK market only, initially just in the retail banking and small and medium enterprise (SME) areas but, over time, it intends to expand into wealth management.

As a quoted entity, the Company will aim to offer investors exposure to UK retail banking through a legacy-free, focused investment in UK banking and savings. The Company does not intend to be active in areas such as wholesale, international or investment banking.
