UK Coal PLC13 June 2005 13 June 2005 UK COAL PLC ("UK COAL") Statement re press speculation The Board of UK COAL notes the press speculation over the weekend concerning JonMoulton and Alchemy. UK COAL has had no written communication of any nature from either Mr. Moultonor Alchemy. The approach received earlier this year was from a private propertycompany, although the Board believes Alchemy was associated with this approach. As announced on 8 June 2005, having asked for clarification in relation to anumber of aspects of the approach and sufficient clarification not beingforthcoming, the Board of UK COAL terminated discussions.
