MAJESTIC WINE STAFF WIN SEVEN WSET AWARDS OF EXCELLENCE

Majestic Wine are delighted to announce that seven members of staff were awarded with Wine and Spirits Education Trust (WSET) "Awards of Excellence" at London's Guildhall on Monday 18th January.

This outstanding performance emphasises the importance we place on our product and customer service training programmes. All Majestic retail staff are required to sit the WSET Advanced Certificate after about six months in the company. We encourage them to further their wine knowledge and 145 either hold or are studying for the two year WSET Diploma. 

This year 150 members of staff passed the WSET Advanced Certificate. 54 of these candidates achieved Distinction Level with the following 4 receiving WSET Advanced Certificate level Awards

Victoria Burt, Assistant Manager in Lincoln, won the Vintners Bursary for a foreign study tour.
Justin Martindale, Trainee Manager in Notting Hillwon The Calem Port Award for a study tour to the Douro.
Jonathan Leadley, Assistant Manager in Ipswich, won The Rhône Prize for a silver-plated wine cooler, held by the winner for a year, and a case of Rhône wines selected by Hallgarten wines.
Donald Mackenzie, Trainee Manager in Ayrwon The Champagne Academy Scholarship for a place on the Champagne Academy study course.

Awards received at WSET Diploma level

Lydia Harrison, Manager of Majestic Kingston, won the Vintner's Scholarship which is awarded annually by the Vintners' Company to the highest performing Diploma graduate currently working in the UK wine industry.
Julia Winepress, Corporate Account Manager, won The Champagne Scholarship for a personally tailored study visit to Champagne as a guest of the CIVC.

Emma Raper, Customer Relations Manager, won The Wines of Portugal Scholarship for a study visit to Portugal as a guest of Vini Portugal

Steve Lewis, Chief Executivesaid:

'I am delighted that seven of our staff have received prestigious WSET 'Awards of Excellence'. Special congratulations should go to Lydia Harrison for being the highest performing Diploma graduate currently working in the UK wine industry. All Majestic staff achievements in the WSET reinforces our commitment to staff development and product training.'
