Majestic Wine PLC23 January 2008 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 23 January 2008 MAJESTIC WINE STAFF WIN 8 WSET AWARDS OF EXCELLENCE Majestic Wine are delighted to announce that 8 members of staff were awardedwith Wine and Spirits Education Trust (WSET) "Awards of Excellence" at London'sGuildhall on Tuesday evening. This outstanding performance emphasises the importance we place on our productand customer service training programmes. All Majestic retail staff are requiredto sit the WSET Advanced Certificate after about six months in the company. Weencourage them to further their wine knowledge and 140 either hold or arestudying for the 2 year WSET Diploma. Awards received at WSET Advanced Certificate level: • David Corrie, Assistant Manager of Majestic Macclesfield, won the Codorniu Scholarship for a four-day study tour to Spain • Lydia Harrison, Senior Assistant Manager of Majestic Clapham, won the Calem Port Scholarship for a study tour of the Douro as a guest of AA Calem & Filho SA • Curly Haslam-Coates, Assistant Manager of Majestic Beverley, won the Vintners Bursary for a foreign study tour • David Hefford, Assistant Manager of Majestic Richmond, also won the Vintners Bursary for a foreign study tour Awards received at WSET Diploma level: • Erica Fowler, Online Marketing Co-ordinator, won the Austrian WineMarketing Board Bursary for a place on the Austrian Wine Summit or VieVinum. • Suzie Harrison, Buyer, won the Michel Laroche Scholarship for a study tour of the Chablis region • Liam Tait, Manager of Majestic Chester, won the Moet & Chandon Scholarship for a study visit to Champagne as a guest of Moet & Chandon and sister houses • Danielle Whitehead, Assistant Manager of Majestic Gloucester, won the Peter Hampson Memorial Scholarship which awards a bursary for a wine study trip Steve Lewis, Chief Operating Officer, stated: "It is a great achievement for so many of our Majestic team to receive suchprestigious awards and these results reinforce our dedication to producttraining and staff development." - E N D S - Note to Editors: The WSET is the only wine and spirit education entity approved by theQualifications & Curriculum Authority, the UK Government's regulator foreducation.
