Spirent Communications plc (LSE:SPT), a global provider ofperformance analysis and service management solutions, today announcednew functionality for its recently unveiled Spirent TestCenterplatform built on Inspire Architecture(TM). Spirent TestCenter offersthe highest port density 10GBASE-T test capability available in theindustry, with twice the density of competitive test and measurementsolutions. £ Spirent TestCenter with 10GBASE-T enables the evaluation of a widerange of network devices to validate data center networkinfrastructure equipment. Adding 10GBASE-T increases flexibility andproductivity for test engineers by allowing the simultaneous testingof fiber and copper 10GbE interfaces on the same test module. £ Spirent's 10GBASE-T interface is 802.3an standard compliant andbased on the single-chip solution from Teranetics, a privately heldcompany based in Santa Clara, Calif. The 10GBASE-T interface ishot-swappable and interchangeable with a portfolio of existing 10GbEinterfaces on Spirent TestCenter's Multiple MSA test modules, including XFP, XENPAK, X2 and 10-GBASE-CX4. Spirent's 10GBASE-Tsupports the IEEE802.3an and the TIA-155 specified cables types: CAT6,and CAT7 and the newer CAT6 Augmented. £ "10GBASE-T is poised to become the connection technology of choicefor cost effective, high bandwidth network applications," said MattRhodes, CEO of Teranetics. "Spirent TestCenter configured with theTeranetics 10GBASE-T interface delivers unmatched capability for thenetwork equipment test engineer to develop new bandwidth-intensiveapplications that next-generation IT networks must have." £ Spirent is bringing its 10GBASE-T test product to the market toenable network equipment manufacturers, communications chip, transceiver and cable providers to perform functional and stress testsearly in the product development cycle. For high port densityapplications, Spirent's 10GBASE-T solution provides up to twenty-fourports in a rackmount chassis and four ports in a portable chassis. The10GBASE-T product is completely modular to allow customers toconfigure the system as required for cost effectiveness. £ "Spirent is helping its customers quickly navigate thecomplexities of the latest 10-Gigabit Ethernet technologies toaccelerate the product development cycle," said Rob Piconi, chiefoperating officer for Spirent Communications. "Adding 10GBASE-Tcapability to Spirent TestCenter is another example of how we areproviding our customers a competitive advantage to get to marketfaster and improve ROI." £ Spirent TestCenter built on Inspire Architecture combines theright mix of testing components to deliver an unmatched combination ofscalability, accuracy, density, automation and speed. It covers abroad range of network technologies that deliver a converged testplatform that overcomes the challenges related to test complexity, scarcity of advanced test skills and the architectural shortcomings oftraditional test solutions. £ For more information about Spirent TestCenter, visitwww.spirent.com/go/STC_2. £ About Spirent Communications plc £ Spirent Communications plc is a leading communications technologycompany focused on delivering innovative systems and services to meetthe needs of customers worldwide.
