South Sharpley Wind Farm operational
Renewable Energy Generation Limited (AIM: WIND), the UK renewable energy group, today announces that its 6MW South Sharpley Wind Farm in County Durham has entered commercial electricity production.
The project consists of three Vestas V80 2MW turbines and will produce around 16GWh of clean electricity annually.
Under the terms of the project financing with The Co-operative Bank announced on 3 October 2012, REG has now drawn down the second and final tranche of £6.3m from the loan agreement. The project financing is repayable over 10 years at an all in rate of 5.7% per annum.
South Sharpley becomes REG's 12th operating wind farm and will be followed by a 4MW site at Orchard End in Lancashire in early 2013.
Andrew Whalley, REG Chief Executive Officer, said: "South Sharpley is adjacent to our existing successful wind farm at High Sharpley and we anticipate it will provide many years of sustainable energy."
