5 Year Power Purchase Agreement signed with the Visitor centre at Pilansberg Game Reserve South Africa based upon the Company's Oasis Containerised Hybrid Solar Power Station
The Board of Ultima is pleased to announce that the Company's Green Technology Division has signed an agreement to provide solar electricity to the visitor centre at the Pilansberg Game Reserve in South Africa ('Pilansberg').
Electricity will be generated by installing the Company's Oasis containerised Hybrid Solar Power station ('Oasis'). Oasis is a compact, quick to deploy and scalable solar power station that is capable of providing green energy for applications in the range between 20Kw and 200KW. Each 20KW power pack is incorporated into a 20 foot ISO container and delivered to the required site as a 'ready to use' power station. Oasis is also capable of redeployment to a different site within 48 hours. Oasis has already been supplied to The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia where it is due to go into operation in early September 2013.
Ultima is confident that following the successful deployment of Oasis at Pilansberg, additional business will follow from within the Pilansberg Reserve and other reserves in South Africa. Electricity used at Pilansberg is currently provided by diesel generators due to there being no connection to the electricity grid. The Company's hybrid power station will provide clean renewable energy and will reduce the running time of generators by around 90%. The prestigious visitor centre is used by all who come to this popular game reserve.
The agreement is for a period of 5 years during which the game reserve will purchase the electricity generated by the solar solution. The agreement is renewable beyond the 5 year period at the option of the game reserve. The hybrid solar power station will help to substantially reduce Co2 emissions and eliminate the noise pollution from the generators, thereby reducing the environmental impact of this spectacular location.
Humayun Mughal CEO of Ultima, said:
"The signing of the power purchase agreement represents another step forward in the company's strategy of providing flexible renewable power solutions to a wider market. We are very pleased to have entered into agreement with the visitor centre at Pilansberg Game Reserve and to be associated with the provision of green energy within an area of significant environmental importance. This is the first deployment of a solar solution of this type in a games reserve and we expect many other sites to follow this example."
