Sony selects TriDef®3D for latest VAIO laptops
Los Angeles, California: DDD Group plc (AIM: DDD), the 3D solutions company, confirms that it has signed a licensing agreement with Sony, which has launched its latest VAIO S-Series laptop PCs using the TriDef 3D solution for automatic 2D to 3D game conversion and 3D photo viewing.
TriDef 3D enables 3D gaming and photos in conjunction with a 3D monitor or 3D TV connected to the laptop. Sony is also offering an award-winning 'glasses-free' 3D accessory that allows 3D viewing on the VAIO S-Series laptop without glasses.
The partnership between DDD and Sony marks the first time that 2D notebooks will include 3D features, bringing 3D to the PC mass market.
The TriDef 3D software allows more than 540 of the latest PC games to be played in stereoscopic 3D 'off the shelf', even though the game has not been specifically developed for 3D.
DDD's TriDef 2D to 3D game conversion engine is compatible with DirectX 9, 10 and 11 games. Its unique high-performance Power 3D render mode increases the frames per second, making the game run smoother and faster, while using less power. The TriDef 3D auto-focus feature results in a superior gaming experience by delivering a more natural 3D look and feel.
Chris Yewdall, Chief Executive of DDD said:
"This marks our biggest PC license to date and further highlights our progress in delivering a market-leading 3D content solution for the PC market. Our TriDef 3D software is fast becoming an industry standard and we're excited to add Sony to our growing list of international customers."
