Dublin, London, 27 January, 2010 Smurfit Kappa Group plc ('SKG') confirms that negotiations are progressing concerning a transaction that would involve SKG acquiring Mondi Group's corrugated operations in the United Kingdom and Mondi Group acquiring SKG's European sack converting operations.
The transaction is subject to the normal procedures and conditions attaching to such transactions and is also subject to regulatory clearances.
There is no certainty that any such transaction will occur. A further announcement may be made as appropriate.
