Office of Communications01 March 2007 COMPLETED ACQUISTION BY BRITISH SKY BROADCASTING GROUP PLC OF A 17.9%SHAREHOLDING IN ITV PLC 1 March 2007 On 26 February the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry issued anintervention notice asking the Office of Communications ('Ofcom') to conduct aninitial investigation into whether the acquisition by British Sky BroadcastingGroup Plc of a 17.9% shareholding in ITV plc raises public interest issues whichare or may be relevant to a consideration of that transaction. In accordance with that notice Ofcom will now investigate and report to theSecretary of State on the specified media public interest consideration insection 58(2C)(a) of the Enterprise Act 2002 by 27 April. The specified media public interest consideration is the need, in relation toevery different audience in the United Kingdom or in a particular area orlocality of the United Kingdom, for there to be sufficient plurality of personswith control of the media enterprises serving that audience.
