Sierra Rutile appoints new Chief Financial Officer

 

London, UK, 22 June 2015: Sierra Rutile Limited (AIM: SRX) ("Sierra Rutile") is pleased to announce that it has appointed Matthew Hird as Chief Financial Officer. Matthew Hird will commence the role at the beginning of September 2015, replacing Yves Ilunga, who will remain with Sierra Rutile for a transition period, supporting Matthew Hird's transition into the new role at Sierra Rutile.

 

Matthew Hird is an experienced finance professional from the natural resources sector who brings a wealth of expertise in driving the strategic analysis, financing, reporting and governance of mining companies. He spent over eight years at Kazakhmys plc, the former FTSE 100 copper producer, including six years as Chief Financial Officer. He was also Company Secretary and Group Reporting Manager at Vedanta Resources plc and most recently, Chief Financial Officer at African Minerals Limited.

 

Commenting on the appointment, John Sisay, Chief Executive Officer of Sierra Rutile said, "Following a careful and rigorous search we have arrived at an exceptional candidate, and I'm very pleased to welcome Matthew to the team. Prior to his work in the natural resources sector, Matthew Hird spent nine years at Deloitte. He is a Chartered Accountant and holds an MA in Natural Sciences (Geological Sciences) from the University of Cambridge.
