Siemens undertaking trials of D1 crude Jatropha oil ("CJO")
D1 announces that Siemens, one of the world's leading manufacturers of gas turbines, are conducting a trial in the coming week, on behalf of a third party, which involves using CJO to fuel turbines installed on a high speed ferry.
This is one of three trials being undertaken by three separate European multinational businesses, for which D1 has recently supplied over 70 tonnes of CJO. The other trials involve a major FMCG business using CJO to generate power and a leading specialty chemicals business converting CJO into bio-based products.
The Directors believe that successful trialling may lead to offtake deals for a large proportion of D1's planned harvest for next season and beyond.
Martin Jarvis, CEO, commented: "Demand for the CJO, both in India and globally, continues to significantly exceed supply. We welcome the interest of these large, European multinationals looking to replace their existing oil requirements with CJO due to its sustainability credentials, attractive pricing and carbon reduction benefits versus mineral fuel oils."
