Afren PLC10 October 2006 AFREN plc ("the Company") Shareholding in the Company The Company was notified on 10 October 2006 that, as at close of business on 6October 2006, Morgan Stanley Securities Limited ("MSSL"), disposed of aninterest in the ordinary shares of 1p each in the Company ("Ordinary Shares"),resulting in MSSL holding a total of 6,011,909 Ordinary Shares representing3.14% of the total issued share capital of the Company. The Company has also been advised that MSSL has transferred from time to time1,800,000 Ordinary Shares to a third party on terms, which give MSSL the rightto require the return of an equivalent number of shares. Accordingly, MSSL'sinterest in 1,800,000 Ordinary Shares is pursuant to Section 208(5) of theCompanies Act 1985.
