CARPETRIGHT PLC (THE "COMPANY")

EMPLOYEE BENEFIT TRUST

The Company has today received notification from Equity Trust (Jersey) Limited in its capacity as trustee of the Carpetright plc Employees Benefit Trust (the "Trustees" and the "Trust" respectively) that 2,000 ordinary shares in the Company were purchased by the Trustee on 8th October at a price of £7.87 per share. The Trustee's current holding of 21,869 shares represents 0.03% of the issued share capital of the Company.

The Executive Directors of the Company have an interest in the shares acquired by the Trustee as they are potential beneficiaries of the Trust. The Trust was established to facilitate the operation of the Company's 2004 Long Term Incentive Plan (the "LTIP") and it is intended that the shares will be used to satisfy awards made under the LTIP.
