NICK RUST TO LEAVE LADBROKES TO TAKE UP SENIOR ROLE AT BRITISH HORSERACING AUTHORITY
Ladbrokes Retail Director, Nick Rust, will be leaving the company in 2015 to take up a new role as Chief Executive Officer of the British Horseracing Authority.
Nick has been with Ladbrokes in his current role for three and a half years.
Commenting on his departure, Ladbrokes CEO, Richard Glynn said:
"Nick has played a significant role in Ladbrokes since he rejoined us in 2011 to help transform our retail offer. He has created a strong team who have been running the day-to-day business for some time and who have a clear view on what needs to be done to keep the retail offer highly competitive.
"We wish Nick well in what is an important role for horse racing at an important time. With his lifelong passion for racing, his knowledge of the industry and the threats posed to it from the growing popularity of other sports he has a lot to deal with and a lot to offer."
It is currently planned he will work until the end of his notice period (April 2015). He will understandably play no further part in any discussions affecting horse racing or horse racing industry relations.
With strong and experienced teams in place across the business there are no immediate plans to replace Nick Rust's position in a like for like role.

I attach the press release we have issued this morning to announce that Nick Rust will be leaving Ladbrokes in 2015 to fulfil a lifetime's ambition by taking up the position of CEO of the British Horseracing Authority.
Nick has been an integral part of the leadership team since he rejoined us in 2011 and we thank him for all his hard work in making our retail offer the best in the sector. One of Nick's greatest strengths has been his ability to build a strong team around him and we are grateful that we have such talent across the functions looked after by Nick to keep the business moving forward.
Because of the strength in depth, we have no immediate plans to appoint a replacement but will work with the existing teams to ensure the positive momentum we are seeing in the business is maintained. We will take some time to look at the best way to structure Nick's direct reports going forward taking into account ongoing evolution of retail led by Lee Drabwell, the estate optimisation work under Chris Robson, the outputs from the Fortress UK work led by John Pettit sponsored by Jim Mullen and the Core Capability work led by Andy Wright.
Nick moves to the BHA at an interesting time in their history and for a lifelong fan of racing with horses under ownership, we are saddened but not surprised at his taking of this opportunity.
Nick will be with us for some time yet and will continue to lead until at least beyond the preliminary announcement in 2015 so I am sure you will get a chance to say good luck to him in the future, but on behalf of the leadership team may I wish him all the best in his new role going forward.
