Senior Management Appointments

Applied Graphene Materials plc, the producer of specialty graphene materials, is pleased to announce that Nigel Blatherwick has been appointed as Commercial Director and Dr Adrian Potts has been appointed as Vice President Business Development for North America, with both appointments commencing during January 2015. Both join the Group following long and successful careers at Cytec Industries Inc. ("Cytec") and prior to that Umeco plc ("Umeco"), which was acquired by Cytec in July 2012.

Nigel Blatherwick was previously Strategic Marketing and Commercial Director for Cytec Engineered Materials, previously Umeco Composites, where he had global responsibility for the promotion of high performance materials, leading a team of around 30 direct staff and 15 agents/distributors.

Dr Adrian Potts previously worked at Cytec Process Materials in roles including Global Business Development Director, President of Cytec Process Materials, CA Inc. and President of Umeco Structural Materials, Inc. Adrian has resided in the USA since 2002 and was instrumental in the development of the business growth strategy, tactical execution plan and business development platform for the USA.

Applied Graphene Materials was founded by Professor Karl Coleman in 2010 with its operations and processes based on technology that he initially developed at Durham University. The Group was admitted to AIM in November 2013, raising £11 million, and is based at the Wilton Site on Teesside.

The Group has developed a proprietary bottom-up process for the production of high purity graphene nanoplatelets and owns the intellectual property and know-how behind this process. Applied Graphene Materials' process is based on sustainable, readily available raw materials and therefore does not rely on the supply of graphite, unlike a number of other graphene production techniques. It is capable of producing high purity graphene using a continuous process. Applied Graphene Materials provides dispersion and product integration expertise to deliver solutions for a wide range of applications.
