Sainsbury(J) PLC06 September 2006 6 September 2006 New Commercial Director for Sainsbury's Neil Sachdev (47) has been appointed to the newly created role of commercialdirector for Sainsbury's and will join the supermarket in March 2007. In thisnew role he will have a wide-ranging brief, initially focused on procurement andwill report to trading director Mike Coupe. Neil will also join the Company'snew senior leadership team and sit on the retail board. Neil brings with him 28 years experience at Tesco, where he worked in a range ofdifferent business areas, having held the posts of supply chain director andretail director and most recently as stores board director UK, responsible for arange of property and operational issues. Mike Coupe said: "We are delighted to have secured somebody of Neil's calibre.His excellent retail experience and strong understanding of our market will be agreat asset to Sainsbury's and the company's management team.
