Mitchells & Butlers PLC01 February 2007 Mitchells & Butlers plc Senior Independent Director To further improve the existing high governance standards at Mitchells & Butlersit has been decided to separate the role of Senior Independent Director fromthat of Chairman of the Remuneration Committee. Sara Weller has provided outstanding support to the Board in both roles over thelast four years but, in view of increasing demands associated with her rolewithin the newly formed Home Retail Group plc, she has elected to stand downfrom her role as Senior Independent Director. However, I am pleased to confirmthat she has agreed to continue as Chairman of the Remuneration Committee. Withimmediate effect, Drummond Hall is appointed Senior Independent Director, havingrecently stepped down from his full time position as Chief Executive of DairyCrest plc.
