Kazakhmys PLC03 April 2006 3rd April 2006 Kazakhmys PLC - Appointment of Senior Independent Director Kazakhmys PLC ("Kazakhmys" or the "Company"), the London listed metals andmining group, announces today that James Rutland has been appointed SeniorIndependent Director. Mr. Rutland has been a non-executive of Director of Kazakhmys since theCompany's listing last year. He has held a number of positions in Investors inIndustry plc and represented the company on the board of several small oilcompanies. In 1985 he joined James Capel's corporate finance group and moved tohead up Hongkong Bank's resource lending group in London. From 1993 to 2001 heserved as finance director of Energy Africa Limited. He now acts as a consultantand is finance director of Osprey Oil & Gas Limited. He attended the College ofLaw, London, and was admitted as a solicitor in 1967. Mr Rutland also acts aschairman of the audit committee of Kazakhmys.
