SDN and QVC extend contract

ITV PLC06 November 2007 November 6, 2007 For immediate release SDN and QVC extend Freeview carriage contract SDN Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of ITV plc, announces today that it hasextended its DTT carriage contract with the QVC channel until 2022. The contract extensionunderlines the on-going strength of the Freeview capacity market, providing forsubstantially improved terms for SDN, effective immediately, and longer termbenefits for QVC including certainty of carriage on the UK's largest digitaltelevision platform - Freeview. The new arrangements will also continue to allowSDN to share in QVC's success as the market leading home shopping brand onFreeview." Ends. Notes to editors SDN originally signed a carriage agreement with QVC in 2002 which was due toterminate in November 2010. This agreement has now been extended. About SDNSDN is a digital terrestrial television (DTT) multiplex operator, acquired byITV plc in March 2005. It holds the licence from Ofcom to broadcast DTTchannels over a specified bandwidth, and constitutes roughly a sixth of currentDTT capacity. SDN derives its income from content providers who would like theirchannels to be broadcast to the nation's growing numbers of DTT homes. Thechannels are then marketed to consumers as part of the Freeview and Top Up TVservices. Within SDN's current capacity of up to ten full videostreams, half is reservedunder the 1996 Broadcasting Act for use by Five which broadcasts its threechannels on DTT and sub-licenses the remainder of the capacity to Top Up TV. Theother channels carried by SDN are Price Drop TV, Bid TV, Nuts TV, EMAP radio(Smash Hits & Mojo) and Teletext Holidays.
